 the goal

Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn’t.
— John Piper

The goal is to someday leave behind a thriving church...

A group of men and women throughout their tribe who understand they were once dead in their trespasses and sins but have been made alive together with Christ only because of His death and resurrection.  Taking on this new identity, this body of believers covenant together in love, through forgiveness, fellowship, discipling of new believers and service to one another under the authority of the Holy Scriptures and the leadership of elders. Meeting consistently to worship God through the teaching of His Word, they are to be a visible representation of the gospel to those around them and beyond, that God may ultimately receive the glory He deserves.

Currently in Papua New Guinea alone there are over 500 language groups who have yet to hear of the saving work of Jesus Christ, nor do they do not have access to God’s Word in their heart language. And many of the works that have been started need resources and support to continue in maturity. In Luke 10:2 Christ says to them,  “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” I am simply willing to be a laborer that the Lord may be glorified and known.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?

MISSIONARY TRAINING + PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

2019-2021 : Two years of practical and spiritual training to equip me for the ministry of cross-cultural church planting among an unreached people group.

ORIENTATION IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA | TEAM FORMATION

2022-2023 In these 7-10 months, I learned the National Language of Papua New Guinea – Tok Pisin, as well as, deepening my knowledge of practical church planting tools to prepare me to move into the tribe. Also during this time, I prayerfully sought the Lord about which team to join. Team formation depends on a variety of factors and my situation was a bit unique so it took extra time to get approval.

ALLOCATION INTO A TRIBE | TRIBAL CULTURE AND LANGUAGE STUDY

2023- Current day. We started building my house in December 2023. I had two teams come in for 5 days each and we were able to get a great space for me to live completely off-grid. I moved in while my co-workers were in the country on February 29th, 2024 :) And began the process of simultaneously learning the culture & tribal language. I am looking at 2 years to complete the study of this language and culture.

LITERACY | TRANSLATION | CHRONOLOGICAL BIBLE TEACHING | DISCIPLESHIP

Because I have joined an existing work, my next steps look a little different. The team already developed an orthography and taught the Bisorios how to read and write but there are still many here who have not learned/want to deepen their ability and so we continue on with Literacy classes. They have been taught God’s Word and have leaders and yet this is a unique time as the country is changing quickly and the youth have faced new facets of culture that are pulling them away. The women have expressed a desire to want to know more about how to read and understand God’s Word and my goal would be to equip them in this area as the Lord gives me wisdom on how to do that. My co-workers have been working on completing the translation of the entire Bible which we hope to dedicate and get into their hands at the end of 2026.

Below is a video with a little bit about our team + images of Bisorio.
